Teachers Blogging
There has been some discussion if teachers should be required to maintain a blog for their classroom. As I thought about this there would be some definite pros and cons. As far as communication, this would eliminate the parents who say they never know what is going on in the classroom. A con, would a teacher be responsible to respond at any hour? There are a lot of possibilities with teacher's maintaining a blog. What does everyone else think?

Personally, I believe a blog would be the easiest "web presence" for a teacher to maintain. Everything is chronological, it's template based, photos are easy to add, not to mention all kinds of cool widgets, videos, etc.
ReplyDeleteTeachers always want to know "what's in it for me?" other than more TIME. The rewards may not be financial, but if they could be rewarded through positive feedback from parents, students, and especially ADMINISTRATORS that might be enough to keep them interested.
Many teacher web pages were created with good intentions, and we all know where "good intentions" sometimes lead!
I am proud of my blog. It really shows that I have accomplished something but will I keep it up? That is a good question. If I do, it will probably be for my own sounding board, if nothing else. Will I use it for my classroom? No. If I had a regular ed room I might. It just seems like a lot of work but I guess the more in tune you are with technology, the easier it gets
